we have quite a lot of anime on tv, but it all sucks. It's all like DBZ and Sakura the card collector, and some American rip-offs, that are just american cartoons where the characters have a little bigger eyes and spiky hair.

But can someone tell me what Square Enix is? It sounds really cool, but i have never heard of it.

You have Crayon Shin-Chan on TV. For that alone, I am jealous.

Teen Titans over here in America is a cartoon shown on the Cartoon Network with a Japanese sounding theme song, and random insertation of Anime-like animation.  Like the sweat drop, and mainly just emotions like that.

I know, that so great! There were some problems with parents of little kids though, and i believe we have a censored version too. (Or it wouldn't be on Fox Kids channel on like 3'o clock in the afternoon)

On some show there were mothers (it's always the mothers..) complaining about Shin Chan showing his butt, but furtunately we have a great Fox Kids director who said:" Shin chan is a great show! It's just great when he drops his pants and annoys his parents!"

Re: Great news for Chicagoans! (This means you, DW.)

Is Fox Kids anything like the old Fox Kids I grew up with?  Or is it like the Fox Box, which is in no way like the old Fox Kids which had great shows like X-Men, Spider Man, Bobby's World and the like.

Re: Great news for Chicagoans! (This means you, DW.)

i believe Bobby's world, spider man and the x-men are still broadcasted on it (they were 2 years ago!)
Some series they broadcast are: the kids from room 405, Crayon Shin Chan and Eek the cat.

Re: Great news for Chicagoans! (This means you, DW.)

I used to get the Fox Kids magazine.  It was so cool.  But anyway, a few years ago here Fox Kids was replaced by the fox box, which was just digimon and any other japanese anime they could get, like the new sonic, the new kirby, etc.  I liked the old sonic cartoon.

Quick question: When did Dr. Robotnik change to Dr. Eggman?

Re: Great news for Chicagoans! (This means you, DW.)

The Kirby anime is no great shakes. It's very juvenile and full of rainbows and sunshine and a dorky villain who always fails. Give me a "Great Cave Offensive" anime any day!

Because people are stupid. We have that show too. I think our fox kids is a mix between your fox box and fox kids.

HAve you seen Martin Mystery? I think it's just a cheap Scooby-Doo rip-off with lamer characters, more green slime and drawings where the girls have slightly bigger eyes and the guys spiky hair. (stupid american 'anime')

Square and Enix used to be two separate Japanese game developers, but they merged in 2003. The president, Yoichi Wada, made a speech shortly after the merger about how he wanted the newly formed Square Enix company to make more of an effort to promote the former Enix's properties (such as Star Ocean and Dragon Quest/Warrior) outside of Japan, but so far, the opposite has been true. The GBA action/adventure game "Slime Morimori Dragon Quest" will never come to North America and the PAL regions, and it looks like the Playstation 2 remake of "Dragon Quest 5" will share a similar fate.
