Moving Pokemon from Gold to Pokemon Stadium 2 with .srm

I converted a Pokemon Gold gbc rom using Goomba Front so I could play it on my GBA. It now saves in .srm and I'd love to find a way to convert this to a .sav so I can put it into Pokemon Stadium 2. I tried online converters and just renaming the file to no avail. Any help is much appreciated! My Pokemon beg to be seen in glorious 3D in Pokemon Stadium 2. Maybe there's a way to do it with Visual Boy or Retroarch but I'm useless at this stuff.

Use Goomba Save Manager:

https://github.com/libertyernie/goombas … 20161012_2
(You want the file goombasav_cs.exe)

Rename your .srm file to .sav (because this program expects that file extension)
Select your save file
Click Extract.

Also, there is no such thing as "converting" a GBC rom to GBA.  It is literally copy-pasting the GBC ROM on to the end of the emulator file.  Nothing gets converted at all.

edit: Mirroring a copy of "goombasav_cs.exe" here just in case something happens to the Github repository.

Thanks so much! I saw somewhere else that it's not called converting haha, my bad. If it isn't obvious im terrible at stuff like this. I'll keep you posted on if I'm able to do this or not. Thanks so much for the help.

Also now wondering how I would put the save through PKHex and back onto the game? Had a bit of trouble with this now too. Renaming the file doesn't work also. Any help, much appreciated.

Need to use the corresponding Import feature in Goomba Save Manager.

Not sure what you mean. Sorry if this is obvious? I imagine the save file would have to be a .srm again? Where is the import feature? Any help again is much appreciated.

Ooof! I done goofed! Big L on my part. I tried experimenting and replacing the save file in the "save" folder in the "GBASYS" folder and now the game won't load the original save anymore. I've still got all the original files on my computer but for some reason the Everdrive is finding it hard to load the original .srm file back onto the game even after I press "Copy File To RAM". Is this the wrong way to do it? Is there another way to get a .srm or .sav back onto the game and working again?

Re: Moving Pokemon from Gold to Pokemon Stadium 2 with .srm

Make a brand new Goomba save file (Think of Goomba's Save Files as being like a container, it contains multiple game saves)

Using the save manager tool, replace your dummy Pokemon Gold save with the real game save.

It can be confusing keeping track of files because Pokemon Gold uses a large save file (32KB) rather than the usual 8KB size, and GBA cartridges also use a size of 32K  (some use 64K)

Re: Moving Pokemon from Gold to Pokemon Stadium 2 with .srm

Hi again. You're probably sick of me now. I got this working the other day but now I can't seem to do it again.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong this time. Do I have to "Copy File TO RAM" before I boot up the game? And how do I get a "Dummy Pokemon Gold Save" ? And do I save on the Goomba Save Manager?

Sorry again if this is obvious, been trying to figure this again all today.

Re: Moving Pokemon from Gold to Pokemon Stadium 2 with .srm

Using a GBA emulator, run Goomba Color with the game you need.  Play the game for a second, press L+R to cause a save.

There will be a .sav file created by the GBA emulator.  I'm calling it a "dummy save" because it's not any real game progress, it's just a file that happens to contain a save for that game.

Open *that* newly created save in the save manager.

Then use the Replace button on a real GBC save file.  (not a GBA save file of the goomba emulator, you want an a real GBC save file)

If you are confusing the files because they have the same size and extension, you can use a hex editor (such as HxD) to inspect the files.  The GBA save files (goomba emulator) will not resemble the GBC save files at all.

Re: Moving Pokemon from Gold to Pokemon Stadium 2 with .srm

I feel like I'm doing all this. Is there something small I'm missing? Whenever I turn on my gba I feel like it overwrites whatever save I have in GBASYS>save>

I've tried copying to RAM before I load up the game and also not doing that. Doesn't work
