Dragon Quest/Warrior 1 NES Editor needed

So apparently the 'Dragon Warrior 1 Massive Data Editor' is DOS-only and doesn't work in newer operating systems.  No clue if there are any newer editors out.

FFHackster for Final Fantasy 1 was awesome.  Why isn't there something similar for this series that is supposed to be much more popular?  Or is there some obscure Japanese hacking utility that I'm not aware of?

Any help is appreciated.
